In 1909 Wichers graduated from Hope College and was appointed instructor in English and Latin at Hope Preparatory School. In 1913 he became professor of history at Hope College. He received an M.A. from the University of Michigan in 1918. In 1925 Wichers resigned from Hope to become cashier of the First State Bank of Holland but continued his association with the college as a member of its Board of Trustees. Dimnent graduated from Hope College in 1896. In 1898 Dimnent returned to Hope as a professor of Greek. He was appointed president of Hope College in 1918 and continued in that capacity until his resignation in 1931. Dimnent then returned to teaching until his retirement in 1948.
